THE INTERNATIONAL FOLKLORE FESTIVAL "BUCHAREST FEST"
Location: BUCHAREST, Romania
Director: WOFA
Application Deadline: 15 November, 2024
BUCHAREST
Known for its wide, tree-lined boulevards, glorious Belle Époque buildings and a reputation for the high life (which in the 1900s earned its nickname of "Little Paris"), Bucharest, Romania's largest city and capital, is today a bustling metropolis. With the ferocious summer heat just a hazy memory, late autumn is the perfect time to explore this compelling city’s unexpected delights.
TRANSYLVANIA Transylvania is best known as the mysterious land of bloodthirsty vampires and howling wolves. Some may think it’s fictional, but this central Romanian region is a real place. So, pack your garlic – here’s the lowdown on one of Eastern Europe’s most captivating regions. BRASOV Legend has it the Pied Piper reemerged from Hamelin in Braşov, and indeed there's something whimsically enchanting about it, with its fairy-tale turrets and cobbled streets. POENARI CASTLE Even without its bloody historic ties, Poenari Castle, also known as Poenari Fortress, would be a majestic, exciting place to explore on its own merit. Many say that spirits haunt the castle ruins and the surrounding valleys as a direct result of the evil deeds of Vlad III.
