The Cheese Festival
In October 2005, Markus Casna spoken about a possible theme week around the cheese and so there has introduced the Cheese Festival. To revive the Harvest Festival with a matching theme was the goal. It is well to present the most widely known across all borders “Pinzgauer cheese” on hand. But other local products should be promoted.
The last few years the festival gets more and more known. In recent years, the festival has reached far beyond the country’s borders and thus attracts many visitors from near and far and next year we will have our 10th anniversary
In addition, we are now for 2 years as a partner of cooperation Alpine dumplings Triology
In this cheese festival week is always collected for a good cause. For example this year for “Rollende Herzen”
Events of the cheese festival
o Harvest Festival at the Salzburg court from 10 clock, with the Kaprun peasantry
o Opening and cheese gate at Raiffeisenbank Kaprun with Vernissage
o In the pot g’schaut – at the Tauern Spa Kaprun with top chefs
o Heiteres / Musical at Burg Kaprun
o Tanzl- and Gstanzl evening with the Schobergruppe from East Tyrol and the MGV Matrei Gasthof Mitteregger
o Culinary Roas when Guggenbichl
o Cheese and dumplings market with traditional parade
o Brunch at the Tauern Spa Kaprun
o and further which are not fixed at the present time
The Múzsa Festival Organising Office cooperating with the Municipality of Kaprun, Zell-am-See, and the organizers of the X. „Kaesefestival”, with the Tourist Office of Rauris are welcoming the participants in this event from all over the world.
Our aim is not just to provide the possibility of performances to the groups but to spend their free time fantastic during the four days of the festival

International Day at the “Käsefestival” in Kaprun with performance of the different music groups

– excursion in Hohe Tauern National Park – goldpanning, Krimml Waterfalls, or
– Werfen – castle, „Eisriesenwelt Werfen” (the largest ice-caves on our planet)

4th day:

Boat Tour on Zell Lake:
You can take a boat tour around the crystal clear lake Zell on board of the
“MS Schmittenhöhe. You will experience memorable views nt he surrounding villages and the stunning alpine landscape. On board you can enjoy coffee and cake specialties.
Departure: daily 10 am until 5 pm, every full hour
Evening (every Thursday or Sunday) Magic Lake Show – Fascinating & Breathtaking:
nt he evening you have the opportunity to visit a spectacular water, music, light and laser show, the „Magic Lake Show“. The show attracts thousands of visitors every year. The Thursday and Sunday shows reflect different musical themes.
Start: 9.30 pm, free entrance
Activities like tobogganing with the Alpine Coaster “Maisiflitzer”:
“Everyone buckle up!” – the last words you hear before the traffic light turns green. Running on tracks, these two-seaters race towards the valley below at speeds as high as 40 km/h. For added excitement the track features built-in waves, jumps and five loops. At its highest point, the track even takes you 11 meters above the ground…

Großglockner High Alpine Road:
The most famous alpine road leads you into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, to the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner (3,798m) and its glacier, the Pasterze. You will have a driving and nature experience of a special kind on 48 kilometres of high alpine road with 36 bends, and an altitude ascent to 2,504 metres!
Europe’s highest waterfalls: Krimmler Wasserfälle:
With their impressive waterfall drop of 380 m the Krimml Waterfalls are the fifth highest waterfalls in the world. Enjoy the refreshing mizzle and the impressive power of the water amidst the gorgeous scenery of the Hohe Tauern National Park.
Mozart Town Salzburg:
It is hard to outplay Salzburg: next to innumerable museums, the birthplace of Mozart and Fortress Hohensalzburg are special treats, indeed. It is also well-worth paying a visit to Stiegl’s Brauwelt, which is a brewery, and to go to the ‘Tiergarten’.
