VIENNA - where the streets are paved with culture

The International Modern Dance Competition “Vienna 2016” will be held for the 4th time in Vienna, Austria during the period from 4th November till 6th November 2016. 

Vienna, city of culture, city of music, city of art, romantically imperial city! 

Vienna is referred to by many as a unique onion, with each of the urban layers surrounding the oldest historic center being equally important to the overall flavor of the city. The Austrian capital therefore embraces all the traditions of a European city, from Roman foundations through to Gothic, Baroque and Historicism. Tourists are eager to visit Vienna because of the city's exciting combination of the royal-imperial flair of the past with the latest trends, the responsible cultivation of a precious heritage and charming traditions. But much more than old buildings turn Vienna into a city of beauty: one also finds excellent museums, fine art collections and world-renowned works of art in the city. 

Competition rules and conditions

To take part on the dance competition each participant (group, solo, duet and/or trio) should submit an application form together with list of participants.

Competition will be judged by international jury consisted by eminent experts!

For the competition the participant dance group prepares one or two choreographic pieces lasting no longer than 4 minutes and no longer than 2 minutes for solo, duet & trio. The group cannot change the program which they apply with.

Each participant group can have rehearsal on the stage. The running order of the contestants is determined by the Organizing Committee. 

Upon completion of the performance the jury will make decision and on the Gala Concert will award special prizes:

- Laureate (first, second and third places in the categories)
- Diploma (diploma for participation)
- Special Jury prizes (Medals and trophy for winner groups)
- GRAND PRIX for the best dance on the competition!

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

- Artistry and performing skills of competitors;
- Representation of local material, both traditional and modern;
- Presentation of program (costumes, traditional music instruments, originality of direction)

COMPETITION FEE AND CATEGORIES:

The competition fee for all participants is as follows:
- for group with minimum 12 dancers 20 euro/person,
- for solo 30 euro/person,
- for duo & trio 25 euro/person
- supplementary: additional 10 euro/per person for extra dance.

Groups must dance with minimum 12 dancers. The contestants perform before an audience. 

For Solo, Duet and Trio the choreography must be maximum 2 min/one dance and for the Groups the choreography must be maximum 4 min/one dance!

Each group can dance 2 dances with same age group (list of dancers for each dance is necessary) in the following categories:

1.DANCE DE CARACTER / ETNO Styling / Folk-modern

a) Age category 1 : till 10 years old
b) Age category 2 : 10-15 years old
c) Age category 3 : from 15-16 years old

2. DANCE CONTEMPORARY (Modern / Lyric)

a) Age category 2 : 10-15 years old
b) Age category 3 : from 15-16 years old
c) Solo, duet,  trio category 

3.DANCE MODERN (Disco, Techno, Hip-Hop, Break Dance, Free Style, etc.)

a) Age category 1 : till 10 years old
b) Age category 2 : 10-15 years old
c) Age category 3 : from 15-16 years old

4. SHOW-DANCE / FENTEZY Choreography  

a) Age category 1 : till 10 years old
b) Age category 2 : 10-15 years old
c) Age category 3 : from 15-16 years old

5.JAZZ / BRODVEJ JAZZ / MUSIC-HALL 

a) Age category 1 : till 10 years old
b) Age category 2 : 10-15 years old
c) Age category 3 : from 15-16 years old

 

Accommodation

The accommodation of the participants will be organized in 4**** Hotel Pyramide located between the city and the countryside only 500 m from the biggest shopping center. The groups will be accommodated in rooms with 3 and 4 beds with their own bathroom.  Each Group can have only 2 double rooms which can be used for the Leaders and Drivers. For any extra double room the group should pay extra 5 euro/person/day and for a single room additional 16 eur per day. 

NOTE: The Groups must send the rooming list by end of February. Groups that do not send, the rooming list will be made by festival and can’t be any changes upon arrival.

The festival fee is 75 euro per person. It covers organizational expenses, accommodation in 4**** Hotel for 2 nights on BB basis (bed and breakfast). On every 25 participants, one member is free of charge.

If the group shows interest in extending the stay the organizers should be informed during the application process and the price for extra night is 40 euro per person per day.

Participation fee can be paid via bank transfer or in cash on the day of arrival. Advance payment of 30 euro per person should be made after receiving the official invitation.

Transport and Travel Conditions

The groups should pay the travel expenses by themselves to Vienna and back. The groups coming by bus should use their own transport all the time during the festival. 

The Organizers can organize the transport for the groups coming by plane by picking them up from airport, during the festival days and back to the same airport. The cost of the transportation will be covered by the group and will be additionally agreed according to their number.
4th November – 6th November 2016
The participant group should arrive in Prague on 4th November 2016 and leave on 6th November 2016 after having breakfast and leave the rooms till 10:00.

Connect 3 festivals and 5 concerts in 8 days: 3 nights in Prague on HB basis + 2 nights in Vienna on BB basis + 3 nights in Budapest on HB basis.

2.VIENNA (04.11. – 06.11.) – BUDAPEST (06.11. – 09.11.) = 150 EUR
Play 3 concerts in 2 different cities during 5 days: 2 nights in Vienna on BB + 3 nights in Budapest on HB basis.

3.PRAGUE (01.11. - 04.11.) – VIENNA (04.11. – 06.11.) = 140 EUR
Play 3 concerts in 2 different cities during 5 days:  3 nights in Prague on HB + 2 nights in Vienna on BB.

The number of participants is limited. After receiving your application we will send you the official invitation for participating on the Festival. We will also assist you in obtaining visa if necessary. Each member must have travel insurance policy. FFA team can offer you Evasan insurance.
