General Rules
Festival is organized in two different categories: folk dance and modern dance of different styles and levels.
Folk dance groups: Folklore groups who will demonstrate cultural heritage through colorful, authentic and original reproduction costumes, energetic dance and traditional music.
Modern dance ensembles / groups: More than 10 persons on stage. Classical ballet, folklore modern dance, hip-hop dance, zumba dance, jazz dance, contemporary dance and interpretative dance.
The International Folk Festival “Alegria” is a non-competitive sample of traditional dances performed by folklore groups. On the festival may participate children and youth folklore dance groups, modern dance groups, as well as groups and performers from other art styles. The age of participants is not limited.
During the festival each group will have 2-3 performances in Calella in the evening hours. Depending of the number of the groups we will let you know about the minutes of your performance. During the day groups are free to visit Barcelona for sightseeing the city attractions or for shopping, or simply enjoy their time in the beach. Every Group will be rewarded with a Certificate for taking part on the Festival.
NOTE: Each group must send us the music for the performances by email, 10 days before the festival starts.
On Groups request, the Festival Team will organize several excursions:
• Sightseeing Barcelona (Sagrada familia, Park guell, Aquarium)
• Dali Museum
• Spain village
• Camp Nou
• Flamenco night
• Montserat
Accommodation
The accommodation of the groups will be in Hotels only 50-100 meters from the beach and 200 meters to center of Calella. The Groups will be accommodated in rooms with 3 and 4 beds with their own bathroom. Each Group can have 3 double rooms, guaranteed by Festival which can be used for the Leaders and Drivers.
Please send us rooming list not later than 1st May so we can arrange rooming like you wish. Groups that do not send, the rooming list will be made by festival and can’t be any changes upon arrival.
The Festival fee is:
for the period 18/06 – 25/06
5 days = 170 euro per person
6 days = 199 euro per person
7 days = 220 euro per person
for the period 25/06 – 02/07
5 days = 177 euro per person
6 days = 207 euro per person
7 days = 225 euro per person
It covers accommodation in 3*** hotels for 5, 6 and/or 7 nights with three meals per day (buffer basis), and organization expanses. On every 25 participant, 26th is free of charge. Drivers (only 2 per group) will receive 20% discount on the price.
Attention: Under the law of Catalonia (1.11.2012), touristic tax is collected for the first 7 days of staying in Hotel, and it’s directly paid to Hotel:
Hotels 1*/2**/3*** → 0.5 Euro per person/per day (only for guests older then 16 years old)
Transport and travel conditions
The groups should pay the travel expenses by themselves to Calella and back. The festival will organize the transport for the groups coming by plane by picking them up from Barcelona or Girona airports, and back to the same airport. The cost of the bus transportation will be paid by the groups and will cost 700 Euro for both directions.
Attention: For the Groups from Russia and Ukraine on their request we can organize charter flights from Russia (from Moscow and St. Petersburg). Please contact the Festival Team for more details and prices.
Parking for buses (during your stay) is paid by the group at the rate set on the parking place (approximately 18 euro per day).
The groups coming by bus can use their own transport all the time during the festival and the small journeys around the city. Any expense caused by the usage of the bus (accident, robbing, breakdown, etc...) should be covered by the vehicle’s insurance. Each member must have travel insurance policy.
OPTIONAL: on the way to Callela or on the way back home we can organize one night stay in Paris, Lido di Jesolo, Verona, Pargue, Vienna, Budapest and/or Ljubljana so you can visit the city attractions.
The number of participants is limited. Therefore we will appreciate if you can send us the application form by 25th March 2016. After receiving your application form, we will send you the official invitation for participating in the Festival. We will start with visa procedure and will assist you in obtaining visa for Spain. (Have in mind that Spain visa takes time to be done.)
The organizer reserves the right to any changes in the program, and the participants will be informed on time. By applying you confirm that you accept all festival conditions!
