Calella - The Best Beach on Costa Brava And Only 40km from Barcelona

Calella is a seaside town on the Costa del Maresme, 58 km northeast of Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. It is located on the coast between Sant Pol de Mar and Pineda de Mar. Calella is a town with more than 650 years of history, and about three kilometers of beaches with clean sand and intensely blue waters. Calella with its location makes it a first-class coastal destination awarded with the European quality Blue Flag - Calella beach.

Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, is known for its art and architecture. Barcelona is one of the world's leading tourist, economic, trade fair, and cultural centers, and its influence in commerce, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world's major global cities.

During the free time, On Group's request, the Festival Team can organize several excursions:

- Sightseeing Barcelona (Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Aquarium)

- Dali Museum

- Spain village

- Camp Nou

- Flamenco night

- Montserrat

General Rules

The International Folk Festival “Grand Alegria” is a non-competitive sample of traditional dances performed by folklore groups. At the festival may participate in children and youth folklore dance groups, modern dance groups, choirs, as well as groups and performers from other art styles. The age of participants is not limited.

During the festival, each group will have 2-3 performances in Calella in the evening hours. Depending on the number of groups we will let you know about the minutes of your performance. During the day groups are free to visit Barcelona for sightseeing the city attractions or for shopping, or simply enjoy the free time on the beach. Every Group will be rewarded with a Certificate for taking part in the Festival.

Accommodation

The accommodation of the groups will be in 3*** Hotels only 50-100 meters from the beach and 200 meters to the center of Calella. The Groups will be accommodated in rooms with 3 and 4 beds with their own bathroom. Each Group can have 3 double rooms, guaranteed by Festival which can be used for the Leaders and Drivers.
If the group wants any additional double rooms the group should pay an additional 5 euro/person/day and for a single room an additional 22 euro per day.

The festival fee covers accommodation in 3*** hotels for 5, 6, and/or 7 nights with three meals per day (buffet basis), and organizational expenses.

For every 25 participants, 26th is free of charge.

Three festival evenings

Attention: Under the law of Catalonia (1.11.2012) for the first 7 days of staying in a Hotel additional payment for touristic tax is directly paid to the Hotel:
Hotels 1*/2**/3*** → 0.5 Euro per person/per day (only for guests older than 16 years old)

How to get there

The groups should pay the travel expenses by themselves to Calella and back. The festival will organize the transport for the groups coming by plane by picking them up from Barcelona or Girona airports, and back to the same airport. The cost of bus transportation will be paid by the groups and will cost 700 Euro (less than 25 people) and 750 Euro (more than 25 people) for both directions.

Parking for buses (during your stay) is paid by the group at the rate set on the parking place (approximately 18 euro per day).

The groups coming by bus can use their own transport all the time during the festival and the small journeys around the city. Any expense caused by the usage of the bus (accident, robbing, breakdown, etc...) should be covered by the vehicle’s insurance. Each member must have a travel insurance policy.

The organizer reserves the right to any changes in the program, and the participants will be informed on time. By applying you confirm that you accept all festival conditions!

Have an unforgettable experience! Enjoy half a day at the wonderful world of Aspro’s parks. Swim, cool off, play with the water and then… relax, rest, and sunbathe in the quiet areas on the lawn around the pool, where you can feel nature all around you.

6. Montserrat

Place where spirituality, nature, and history come together. The mountain and Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat, founded in the 11th century, are located in a natural park 60 km west of Barcelona.

It is well known as the site of the Benedictine abbey, Santa Maria de Montserrat, which hosts the Virgin of Montserrat sanctuary. The mountain is composed of a strikingly pink conglomerate, a form of sedimentary rock. Montserrat is Spain's first National Park.
